Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Jayson Derrick]

Analysts at Credit Suisse maintained an Outperform rating on Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT) with a price target raised to $109 from a previous $110. Analysts at Citigroup maintained a Neutral rating with a price target lowered to $110 from a previous $115. Shares gained 0.17 percent, closing at $99.44.

  • [By reports.droy]

The heavy machinery honcho, Caterpillar (CAT), posted its third quarter results on October 23. The company was able to post much better earnings than was predicted, and the report card was completely in the green for the company. The stock market also reacted positively to the news and sent the Caterpillar stock soaring higher with the share price opening 3.3% higher at $97.69 on Thursday morning. Let's find out the details of the third quarter earnings.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Why the massive rally? Chalk it up to solid earnings from some bellwether companies. Caterpillar (CAT), for instance, gained 4.6% this week after reporting surprisingly good results, while 3M (MMM) rose 8.1% following its own beat, and Microsoft (MSFT) advanced 5.7% this week after beating earnings and reporting that it was finally making a profit on its Surface tablet. Apple (AAPL), the biggest company in the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite, rose 7.7% after the tech giant beat the Street’s earnings and revenue forecasts, and offered above-consensus guidance.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Why is the market surging? Top-notch earnings from big Dow components like Caterpillar (CAT) and 3M (MMM), and a dividend increase from Visa (V) certainly have helped, as these are some of the priciest stocks in the price-weighted Dow. And then there’s the economic data. US jobless claims rose to 283,000, a tad bit higher than expected but still ridiculously low. Global purchasing managers’! indexes ! also showed signs of improvement, especially in Europe. If the recent selloff was a “growth scare,” then perhaps growth isn’t as scary as many investors thought.

For example, Windows tablets have yet to put the sales of iPads to shame. Past announcements of smartwatches never saw them become a must for the fashion conscious. This year, perhaps one of the most eyebrow-raising claims belonged to Comcast (CMCSA) (CMCSK). "We expect that customer service will soon be one of our best products," said CEO Neil Smit, according to tech blog BGR. That would be one astonishing turnaround. Although, as BGR put it, "Considering the quality of most of Comcast's products, this wouldn't be very difficult to achieve." In "The Prince," Machiavelli once debated whether it was better for a leader to be feared or loved. (He said both if possible, but if not, then feared.) What he didn't address so clearly was the utility of being hated. That's been Comcast's quandary, as the company has exceeded at being hated. It won -- if that's the right word -- Consumerist's audience poll of the most hated company in the country last year. That was the second time the largest cable television provider in the U.S. grabbed the crown, with 2010 being the first. Comcast beat out the likes of Monsanto (MON), Walmart (WMT) and Bank of America (BAC). It even bested SeaWorld (SEAS) after the scandalous Blackfish documentary. The reason? Bad customer service. No, make that service so terrible that it has gained national attention on more than one occasion in just the last year: A tech journalist recorded his attempt to cancel his Co! mcast ser! vice, as Time reported, while a "customer retention" specialist desperately tried to keep him from doing so. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By John Udovich]

Small cap Machine-to-Machine (M2M) stock CalAmp Corp (NASDAQ: CAMP) has given investors a relatively flat performance since spiking earlier this year but shares are still up some 538.5% over the past five years (according to Google Finance) – meaning its worth taking a closer look at the stock along with the performance of other M2M stocks like Digi International Inc (NASDAQ: DGII), Numerex Corp (NASDAQ: NMRX) and Sierra Wireless, Inc (NASDAQ: SWIR). I should mention that we recently added CalAmp Corp to our SmallCap Network Elite Opportunity (SCN EO) portfolio based around our ongoing Internet of Things growth theme plus the company appears well positioned in the M2M space for the next few years.

  • [By John Udovich]

Small cap machine-to-machine (M2M) stock Elecsys Corp (NASDAQ: ESYS) jumped 8.99% yesterday and is up 254% over the past year, meaning it might be time to take a closer look at the stock and its performance verses other ! small cap M2M stocks like Digi International Inc (NASDAQ: DGII), Numerex Corp (NASDAQ: NMRX) and Sierra Wireless, Inc (NASDAQ: SWIR). First of all though, I should mention that machine-to-machine (M2M) broadly refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same type and this can be through any type of technology ranging from instruments to networks to applications that create connections between devices.

Margins matter. The more Numerex (Nasdaq: NMRX  ) keeps of each buck it earns in revenue, the more money it has to invest in growth, fund new strategic plans, or (gasp!) distribute to shareholders. Healthy margins often separate pretenders from the best stocks in the market. That's why we check up on margins at least once a quarter in this series. I'm looking for the absolute numbers, so I can compare them to current and potential competitors, and any trend that may tell me how strong Numerex's competitive position could be.

10 Best Gas Utility Stocks To Watch Right Now

Here at The Motley Fool, I've long cautioned investors to keep a close eye on inventory levels. It's a part of my standard diligence when searching for the market's best stocks. I think a quarterly checkup can help you spot potential problems. For many companies, products that sit on the shelves too long can become big trouble. Stale inventory may be sold for lower prices, hurting profitability. In extreme cases, it may be written off completely and sent to the shredder.

Basic guidelines
In this series, I examine inventory using a simple rule of thumb: Inventory increases ought to roughly parallel revenue increases. If inventory bloats more quickly than sales grow, this might be a sign that expected sales haven't materialized. Is the current inventory situation at EnerSys (NYSE: ENS  ) out of line? To figure that out, start by comparing the company's inventory growth to sales growth. How is EnerSys doing by this quick checkup? At first glance, OK, it seems. Trailing-12-month revenue decreased 0.3%, and inventory decreased 2.2%. Comparing the latest quarter to the prior-year quarter, the story looks decent. Revenue dropped 3.5%, and inventory shrank 2.2%. Over the sequential quarterly period, the trend looks healthy. Revenue grew 2.7%, and inventory dropped 6.9%.

10 Best Gas Utility Stocks To Watch Right Now: Renaissance Oil Corp (ROE)

Renaissance Oil Corp, formerly San Antonio Ventures Inc., is developing a diversified shale and mature fields portfolio for development in Mexico and Spain. The Company is partnered with Grupo SAMCA, a diverse industrial with operations in energy, mining, industrial minerals, agriculture, environmental and various other business lines in Spain. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Canadian Value]

In our opinion, the biggest drawback to using multiples is that this method does not explicitly consider whether the fundamental drivers of business value embedded in the multiple are reasonable. For example, the formula below tells us that a company forward P/E ratio is a function of its cost of equity, return on equity (ROE), reinvestment ratio and payout ratio:

  • [By Holly LaFon]

During the year, we exited more holdings than we added, making the portfolio more concentrated. The exits were driven by the inability of newer positions to meet our milestones. The business environment in many parts of Asia has been difficult for the past few years, reflective of tougher lending conditions, and a moderation in growth. All this has translated into lower returns on equity (ROE) for many companies, and is one of the key reasons behind Asia underperformance relative to many other parts of the world. Some of the decline in ROE is likely structural, as may be the case for the industrial sector in China. However, we also believe that with stabilizing sales growth and lower inputs costs, there is a possibility that margins may stabilize and start to recover over the next few years.

Kristoffer Tripplaar/Alamy NEW YORK -- Maybe there is such a thing as too many breadsticks. In a nearly 300-page treatise on what's wrong with Olive Garden and its management, investor Starboard Value suggests the Italian restaurant chain is being reckless with its unlimited breadsticks. The hedge fund notes the chain's official policy is to bring out one breadstick per customer at a time, plus an extra for the table. But Starboard says servers bring out more than that, leading to waste -- and cold breadsticks. Starboard notes that it isn't pushing for an end to unlimited breadsticks, just more control in how they're doled out. "Darden management readily admits that after sitting just 7 minutes, the breadsticks deteriorate in quality," Starboard said in its presentation. The incredibly detailed document was released Thursday and lays out how Olive Garden could improve its performance. It's part of Starboard's push to take control of the board of the chain's parent company, Darden Restaurants (DRI). The company, based in Orlando, Florida, has come under fire for failing to fix declining sales at its flagship chain. In the latest quarter, Olive Garden's sales fell 1.3 percent at established locations as fewer diners visited. Darden said in a statement that its "Olive Garden Brand Renaissance" is already underway. It said it will review Starboard's plan, but noted that many of the strategies "are already being implemented across our company and are showing results." Part of Olive Garden's troubles stem from the growing popularity of places like Chipotle, where people feel they can get food comparable to a sit-down restaurant for less money. But Starboard also criticized Darden's management of Olive Garden, including its "outdated" advertising strategy, which it said focuses too heavily on TV commercials. It also took issue with the chain's new logo, quoting a tweet by restaurant analyst Howard Penney that said it looked like "a second-grader's cursive

Orbotech (ORBK) and Rudolph Technologies (RTEC) Sizable Net-Nets in the AOI Sector

As noted previously, I rode the elevator up and then back down on Camtek (CAMT), a tiny Israeli automated optical inspection (AOI) company. By late 2008 the company had fallen to below $1 per share. Both of Camtek larger rivals, RTEC and ORBK, had dropped to absurdly low levels by November 2008. I used the opportunity to switch out of CAMT and some of my other losing propositions in favor of these superior companies. In the process, I created a large amount of tax loss carry-forwards which would allow me to minimize my future taxation when I decided to sell these cyclical entities.

    Calling all cash flows
When you are trying to buy the market's best stocks, it's worth checking up on your companies' free cash flow once a quarter or so, to see whether it bears any relationship to the net income in the headlines. That's what we do with this series. Today, we're checking in on Orbotech (Nasdaq: ORBK  ) , whose recent revenue and earnings are plotted below.

AOI companies had little in the way of competition since they held a specialty niche and their systems were protected by patents. Years of R&D would be required to unseat them by way of technological superiority; therefore it made more sense for a larger company to assimilate them should they wish to enter the AOI sector. That said, CAMT was much smaller than its archrival Orbitech (ORBK) in the PCB AOI sector; thus their key to long term growth lied in their penetration into the rapidly expanding semiconductor AOI sector. In that area, their main completion was August Semiconductor.

To be fair, it might be years before PROP really starts to worry the likes of Denbury Resources and Halliburton Company. That doesn't dampen the size of the opportunity for Propell Technologies Group Inc. in the meantime, though. In fact, considering major oil players like Miller Energy Resources Inc. (NYSE:MILL), LUKOIL (OTCMKTS:LUKOY), and ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) have already utilized this plasma-boring service and liked the results, PROP may grow into a real threat to the sol-called "majors" before anyone realizes it's happening, ultimately spurring an acquisition of the company. When the provisionally-patented technology is this good, we can't rule out any rewarding outcome for the stock.

Domestic carrier iPhone activations have proven to be a useful tool for Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL  ) investors. The figures are inexact on a quarterly basis, which became apparent after Apple directly disclosed domestic iPhone sales for the first time ever last year in a court filing. However, in the long term, the differences smooth out and the discrepancy averages out to about just 1%, so the aggregate total of carrier activations does provide a fairly good proxy for domestic iPhone sales.

Plan retirement timing to maximize returns: Navlakhi

Top 10 Clean Energy Companies To Invest In Right Now

Although, equities and fixed income products can be good investment tools, Navlakhi feels that gold is an excellent investment choice in uncertain times. Hence, investors can allocate a certain portion of their investment in the golden metal, ideally 5-7% of one's total net worth.

Below is the edited transcript of his interview with CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video.

Q: Investors wants to invest Rs 2 lakh lump sum every year in mutual fund or ULIP. His goal is Rs 10 crore. How should he allocate the money?

A: First of all, I think when he is planning for retirement, an important thing to note is the time of his retirement. He mentioned that he wants to accumulate these funds in the next 10 years. If he is going to invest Rs 2 lakh per annum and he already has about Rs 2 lakh of investments currently, we should assume a return on the portfolio of about 10-12% typically with possibly about 60% currently in equities and the balance in fixed income type of products.

With that amount, he would probably be short of reaching his goal. What he requires to do is if he can add something like Rs 4-5 lakh per annum, then in 10 years he will meet the goal. The other option obviously for him is to look at the retirement goal maybe 12-13 years later instead of 10 years.

In that case, he will be able to achieve his goal. So that's the first important thing for retirement planning, the time period. Give a reasonable time period and don't look at retiring very, very early. Then you have more time for the money to earn its returns.

Q: You also have some fund names that you are suggesting?

A: If he is looking at equity funds, I will just name one fund each from the large cap, mid-cap and multi-cap category. From the large cap it could be Franklin India Bluechip, in the midcap category HDFC Midcap Opportunities and a multi-cap fund like ICICI Dynamic Plan . If he needs fixed income, then ICICI Regular Savings or a Templeton India Short-term Plan is what I would suggest.

Q: Investor can invest Rs 50,000 lump sum. He wants to invest in gold. How should he allocate the money?

A: Gold is a very good investment in uncertain times. If we expect that there will be uncertainty in the markets, let's say in Europe there are problems, in India there are problems and we therefore, will see gold prices continuing to go up because people look at gold as a safe haven.

My real point is that we have had a very strong rally in the last three to four years in gold because of the uncertainties. It's not that the uncertainties are really over. But, I think a very important factor to keep in mind is that the rupee is probably in a weak position today. It could strengthen.

The impact or the benefit that gold would give for international investors may not be the same that you would get with the Indian rupee. My advice would be that he should definitely have some portion of his total assets in gold.

But, if he has Rs 50,000 to invest, I wouldn't recommend him to put all the money there. Maybe, he can start with Rs 15,000 or so. Out of this money, because he has zero gold today, he can invest in gold and the rest can be invested at the age of 62. He probably needs to have fixed income investments, if he doesn't already have them.

Q: It's not very common for investors to go on looking at certain times and uncertain times. Personal finance guys just put their money away. The better part of the day is spent earning your living. So as a rule, how much money should one put at all in gold?

A: Typically we look at gold investment at between 5-7% of one's total net worth. When things are uncertain, then you probably can enhance that investment. That is, you have money but you feel that it's uncertain to put money in equities today and therefore, maybe you can add another 5% to that gold kitty.

When you see a very strong rally, it is good to take out some profits, not just stick to it saying gold is always something that goes up because people have short-term memory, they have the last four years to go back to. But if they actually went back to the last 30 years, they will see that gold has really not given great returns, in fact slightly below inflation.

LEN stock is only up about 3% in 2014, but it’s clearly a growth play. With a price-to-earnings-growth (PEG) ratio of just 0.6 and a forward P/E of a little more than12, LEN stock looks undervalued now. LEN pays a nominal dividend with a 0.4% current yield, but the company knows its market and is positioning its new properties well, so LEN promises to be a solid buy-and-hold stock.

    REIT:New York Mortgage(NYMT)

There are two basic types of REITs –those that hold real property and those that hold mortgages on property (mortgage or mREITs). Among mREITs, New York Mortgage(NYMT)is a so-called ybrid mREIT meaning that it holds a combination of federally guaranteed (agency) and non-agency debt, like commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS).

  • [By Amanda Alix]

More mREITs stay the course, but two trim payouts
Despite suffering many tumbles and bruises, several mREITs have announced that their dividends will be unchanged from the previous quarter. Several did so last week, and yesterday saw Hatteras Financial (NYSE: HTS  ) , an agency-only trust, keeping its own $0.70 per sharepayout the same. Hybrid New York Mortgage Trust (NASDAQ: NYMT  ) also kept its dividend stable, at $0.27 per share, in line with its four most recent distributions.

New York Mortgage Trust (NYMT) is a mortgage real estate investment trust, or mREIT, that acquires, invests in, finances and manages mortgage related securities. These mREITs are very much tied to interest rates, so while rates are low, the stocks will do well. NYMT common stock, in fact, yields more than 14%. Yet that why I would choose the New York Mortgage Trust 7.75% Preferred Series B (NYMTP).

However, there is no evidence to support this conclusion. The truth is that we showed you an excerpt directly from the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use that stated the CHMP "was of the provisional opinion that Omontys could not have been approved" due to "study results indicating that Omontys may increase the risk of death or heart and circulatory problems." It is clear that the EU application was withdrawn because Takeda (TKPHF.PK) could not get Omontys approved due to its safety profile.

And, investors see these patent-enforcement names as such for good reason.... between VRNG, IDCC, and VHC, the three organizations own well over 20,000 technology patents, and their efforts to enforce them have been well-documented, and well publicized. Thing is, as the patent-protection industry matures, companies like Vringo, InterDigital, or VirnetX Holding may well find that it's the quality of the patent portfolio rather than the quantity of patents that makes an IP owner a potent investment. Disney Stock Is About to Get Another Boost From "The Avengers"

Joss Whedon is back to creating great television. Only this time, it's Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS  ) stock that stands to benefit.

Hardcore fans remember Whedon for orchestrating seven seasons of the hit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and another five seasons of the spinoff Angel, both produced by TV arm of 21st Century Fox (NASDAQ: FOX  ) . Fox also co-produced Firefly and Dollhouse, fan favorites that the network ultimately canceled.

Whedon and Fox had been practically joined at the hip until last summer, when Disney signed Whedon to a multi-property development deal in the wake of Marvel's The Avengers earning more than $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. The first of his new creations arrives in September, with Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a Tuesday night TV drama that begins airing in September.

The show is set in (and thereby, extends) the Marvel Cinematic Universe established in the five films leading up to The Avengers. Only in this show, it's not Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America that propose to boost Disney stock. This time, a team of perfectly human field operatives leads the way.

Sources: YouTube, Marvel Entertainment.

I'm already convinced that Disney has a ratings winner on its hands. How can I be so sure? I've seen the first episode. Whedon treated the thousands of us who showed up for a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con to an advance screening of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

For now, all I can say is that the show offers treats for fans of Marvel's comics and movies while offering enough mainstream action to appeal to the same demographic that watched Buffy in its heyday, or which tunes in to USA Network's action thriller Covert Affairs.

Importantly, Marvel appears to have given Whedon and the writers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the space to create something much bigger than a weekly TV show. When asked by a fan which comic book characters would appear in the show, Whedon coyly replied that he and his team may introduce "new people that are part of the Marvel Universe that is not yet cinematic."

in other words, fans and Disney stock investors alike can expect Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to be a doorway to heretofore unseen allies and enemies, with actor Clark Gregg leading the way as team leader Agent Phil Coulson. He embraced Whedon at the panel when asked what it was like "put the suit back on" after dying on screen in The Avengers.

Clark Gregg returns as Agent Phil Coulson in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Source: ABC.

If Gregg loves the role as much as he purports to, it shows on screen in the first episode. Whedon, too, sees the show as a way to play with the entirety of Marvel's vast assets. "This is a show that has so much history and so much to make ... I guess I'm a little excited," Whedon said at Comic-Con.

After paying $4 billion for Marvel in 2009, you can bet Disney CEO Bob Iger is thrilled with the prospects. Everyday investors should feel similarly: Thousands of Marvel characters have yet to show up in the MCU. Whedon, with a history of producing fan favorites, is about to change that.

I may see Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a catalyst for Disney stock, but the TV landscape is changing so quickly that there are likely to be multiple winners and losers. We give you a closer at the entire landscape in The Motley Fool's new free report "Who Will Own the Future of Television?" Check This to See How Should You Should Play Modine Manufacturing

There's no foolproof way to know the future for Modine Manufacturing (NYSE: MOD  ) or any other company. However, certain clues may help you see potential stumbles before they happen -- and before your stock craters as a result.

A cloudy crystal ball
In this series, we use accounts receivable and days sales outstanding to judge a company's current health and future prospects. It's an important step in separating the pretenders from the market's best stocks. Alone, AR -- the amount of money owed the company -- and DSO -- the number of days' worth of sales owed to the company -- don't tell you much. However, by considering the trends in AR and DSO, you can sometimes get a window onto the future.

Sometimes, problems with AR or DSO simply indicate a change in the business (like an acquisition), or lax collections. However, AR that grows more quickly than revenue, or ballooning DSO, can, at times, suggest a desperate company that's trying to boost sales by giving its customers overly generous payment terms. Alternately, it can indicate that the company sprinted to book a load of sales at the end of the quarter, like used-car dealers on the 29th of the month. (Sometimes, companies do both.)

5 Best Industrial Disributor Stocks To Invest In 2016

Why might an upstanding firm like Modine Manufacturing do this? For the same reason any other company might: to make the numbers. Investors don't like revenue shortfalls, and employees don't like reporting them to their superiors.

Is Modine Manufacturing sending any potential warning signs? Take a look at the chart below, which plots revenue growth against AR growth, and DSO:

Source: S&P Capital IQ. Data is current as of last fully reported fiscal quarter. FQ = fiscal quarter.

The standard way to calculate DSO uses average accounts receivable. I prefer to look at end-of-quarter receivables, but I've plotted both above.

Watching the trends
When that red line (AR growth) crosses above the green line (revenue growth), I know I need to consult the filings. Similarly, a spike in the blue bars indicates a trend worth worrying about. Modine Manufacturing's latest average DSO stands at 47.2 days, and the end-of-quarter figure is 53.9 days. Differences in business models can generate variations in DSO, and business needs can require occasional fluctuations, but all things being equal, I like to see this figure stay steady. So, let's get back to our original question: Based on DSO and sales, does Modine Manufacturing look like it might miss its numbers in the next quarter or two?

The numbers don't paint a clear picture. For the last fully reported fiscal quarter, Modine Manufacturing's year-over-year revenue shrank 7.5%, and its AR dropped 6.5%. That looks OK. End-of-quarter DSO increased 0.0% over the prior-year quarter. It was up 18.1% versus the prior quarter. That looks like seasonality. Still, I'm no fortuneteller, and these are just numbers. Investors putting their money on the line always need to dig into the filings for the root causes and draw their own conclusions.

Should I Buy National Grid or Centrica?

LONDON -- Utility firms National Grid  (LSE: NG  ) (NYSE: NGG  ) and Centrica  (LSE: CNA  ) (NASDAQOTH: CPYYY  ) have long been favored for investors for their generous dividends, but rising markets have pushed these companies' share prices up by around 25% over the last year.

Which share would make the better buy for a dividend portfolio?

National Grid vs. Centrica
I'm going to start with a look at a few key statistics that can be used to provide a quick comparison of these two companies, based on their last published results:

  National Grid Centrica
Price to earnings ratio (P/E) 14.7 14.4
Dividend yield 5% 4.2%
5-year average dividend yield 5.9% 4.7%
5-year average dividend growth rate 3.8% 7.2%

National Grid's share price lagged behind the FTSE 100 last year, due to uncertainty over whether the firm's dividend might be cut when new regulatory pricing controls came into force in April.

As it turned out, this wasn't the case and, in March,, National Grid confirmed that it will target dividend growth "at least in line with the rate of RPI inflation each year for the foreseeable future", cementing its position as a top dividend stock.

Centrica's different
Just 40% of Centrica's operating profit came from its regulated British Gas business last year, while 45% came from its unregulated oil and gas production business, making it quite different to National Grid.

Although Centrica's dividend yield is lower than National Grid's, it has grown faster over the last five years, rising by an average of 7.2% per year, versus 3.8% for National Grid.

Top 10 Dow Dividend Stocks To Invest In Right Now

It's also worth noting that Centrica's dividend has been covered by free cash flow for four of the last six years, whereas National Grid's has only been covered by free cash flow twice, during the same period.

What's next?
Will National Grid and Centrica be able to maintain their inflation-beating dividend growth?

Analysts' forecasts are notoriously unreliable, but FTSE 100 companies generally get the benefit of the most comprehensive analysis, and tend to deliver fewer surprises than smaller companies.

With that in mind, let's take a look at some forward-looking numbers for National Grid and Centrica:

  National Grid Centrica
Forecast P/E ratio 15.4 14.0
Forecast dividend yield 5.1% 4.4%
Forecast dividend growth 3% 5.5%
Forecast earnings growth (4.0)% 3%

Centrica seems likely to provide a higher rate of dividend growth than National Grid, and is also expected to manage to grow its adjusted earnings this year, unlike National Grid.

Which share should I buy?
I think that both companies look attractive buys, and should offer reliable dividends.

For anyone without much exposure to oil and gas, I might suggest Centrica, but if you already have enough exposure to this sector, then National Grid might be a better buy.

The best FTSE 100 dividends?
National Grid and Centrica are both tempting income buys, but only one of these utility stocks was selected for the Motley Fool's latest special report, "5 Shares To Retire On".

The Fool's team of expert analysts crunched the numbers on every share in the FTSE 100 when researching this free report, and the five companies they chose all offer high-quality, reliable dividends.
